Animated Globe - Page Two

Click here to keep your place

Don't forget to Bookmark this page so that you can keep your place :)

Now let's open Animation Shop (YAY!)

Animation Shop PSP7

You are now going to open the Wizard so that we can start our animation. This will lead you through the steps of setting up your globe. See illustration below. Hard or easy way, lol!

Animation Wizard

There are four screens first that will let you pick certain preferences. Click "next" to get you through these screens. I always leave the first in the default. In the second window I always leave transparent as the chosen one. This globe has a background so it doesn't really matter, but if you ever chose to forget the background in another globe, this is what you would have to choose then.

In screen 3 I leave the default settings and in screen 4, I only change the speed of the animation. On this globe change it to 20. If you find this isn't fast enough for you, change to 18 or if you think this is too fast at 20, then change to 22 or 24. Once again, it is what makes you happy with your globe :)

This fifth screen is where you will choose your images. When it appears, click on the button "Add an image". The next screen that appears is one where you find your saved images. Find the folder where you stored your 3 pictures.

If you click on one of the images, then you will have to do this step 3 seperate times. But there is a shortcut to add all three pictures at once. Hold down the control key and then click on your Globe03, then Globe02, then Globe01. Your images will all show up in your screen in the opposite order and then you can click on the "Open" button and all images will appear in your Animation Wizard :)

The next screen is the same as we saw in Screen Five, but now it has all your three images displayed. Click next another window will pop up saying that it is preparing your animation and then click on "Finish".

Your 3 animation frames will soon appear in the Animation Shop main window, just as below. If you would like to 'resize' your animation, now is the time to do it.Use the settings below and then decide how much smaller you'd like your animation to be. As an example I have resized this one at 50%.

Resizing in Animation Shop

This how your animation will look like at a 50% reduction :)

Frames in Animation Shop

Here is where we have our fingers crossed because we are going to view our frames in Animation Shop and see how it looks. Click the 'view animation' icon   Animation Preview Icon   and you should now see how your Globe is animated :) At the moment I am using the resized animation at 50% :)

Now let's go to the menu "File/Save As". The next window will appear asking you where you would like to save your Globe Animation and what you would like to call it. Remember it will be a gif file. A jpg extension will be a 'still' image

The next screen that appears gives you an option at what level you want to save your animation. Level Four, as shown by the slider at the left, is your best level and the description tells you about what to expect. If your files are large or you are saving more than 3 frames, sometimes, you might find it better to save at level 3. I have saved our animation here at level 4.

Animation Save Settings

When you click next, you'll see how Animation Shop Optimises your animation giving it the best quality.

Optimisation Preview

Click next and you will see the last screen you have to deal with. It gives you all the information about the size of your file and how long it will take to load depending on your modem speed. If you feel that the file size is too large, you would just have to click "back" to return you to the screen with the 'quality' slider and move it down to Level 3.

A LONG tutorial but I think you'll see it was worth the effort. Once you practise a few more it will come naturally to you and you'll be able to create some beautiful animated globes :)

Finished Animated Globe

I do have a huge collection of various beautiful globes and wish I could take credit for making them, but for the life of me I can't remember where I got them from! Whoever made them I thank you as they are gorgeous! If you'd like a few of them, then you can download them from here:

  • Globes 01

  • Globes 02

  • Globes 03

  • As usual should you have any questions relating to the making of this tag then please feel free to email me, Michele and I'll try to help :)
