This tutorial is not hard to do but it is repetitive. After doing a couple of the letters, you will fly through this tutorial, lol.
You will need the following equipment:
PSP version 7
A nice fat font (I've used Antimony)
A fairy tube that you like
The inner bevel preset I have used.
If you'd like to use the fairy, font + the inner bevel preset then please download the zip file here :) Either way you will need to download the bevel preset.
Make sure you place the bevel preset (.pbv) in the Presets Folder in Paint Shop Pro.
OK, let's go :)
Open a new image 500 X 260..You may need to make it smaller or wider depending on the length of your name. Mines a long one, lol! If you are using the Antimony Font (.TTF) then just double click on it and it will open up the font. Minimise and PSP will automatically 'pick it up'. You don't have to have it installed in the Windows Folder of Fonts. I have a seperate folder in my Documents called Fonts and there are thousands lol! You really shouldn't have too many in your Windows Folder for fonts as it will slow down your computer considerably:)
Fill the background with black or white or a colour of your choice.
Add a new Raster Layer. Now click on your Text Tool and add the first letter of your name using a colour of your choice.
Now go to Effects\3D\Inner Bevel and use the Initial Bevel provided with this tutorial materials. Then go back to Effects\3D\Drop Shadow and use the following settings
Create a New Raster Layer and add the second letter of your name...Repeat the Inner Bevel and Drop Shadow. I've resized the following image for easier downloading :) Use different colours for each name and it will look much prettier. You can do this by clicking on the colour box in the text menu and choosing another colour.
Continue adding the new layers, bevelling and adding a Drop Shadow to each letter until you have finished your name.
Pick up your mover tool and move the letters up and down like the one shown on my email
tag and the next image below. Here's what your first & second letter should look like:
Here's what my finished name looks like at this stage:
Now let's copy and paste the fairy as a New Layer and place her on the first letter of your name. Let's give her a drop shadow by going to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and use the same settings as we did on the name letters.
Now go Edit\Copy Merged. Either go to Edit\Copy Merged (or click on your image toolbar and click on Copy Merged). Now open up Animation Shop File\Jasc Products\Animation Shop. Once open, go to Edit\Paste as New Animation (or right click on your screen and paste your image as a New Animation). *This is the first frame*
Now move the fairy to the second letter of your name placing her neatly on or in the letter.
Now go Edit\Copy Merged. Now back to Animation Shop. Right click on your first frame, then Paste After Current Frame. *This is the second frame*
Repeat these steps moving on to the next letter in your name until you are at the last letter.
In Paint Shop Pro, with your Fairy active, go to Image\Mirror. Okay, she probably jumped to the other side of the graphic, lol, so just grab her with your Mover Tool and place her back on the last letter of your name.
Then Copy Merged as we did before. Now back to Animation Shop, right click on your last frame and Paste after current Frame. Continue doing this until you get to the first letter of your name.
Make sure you are now in Animation Shop and go to Edit\Select All. Then Animation\Frame Properties and change the Display Time to 45. If you want her to move slower, increase this
number. To move her faster, decrease the number.
Click on your Crop Tool . Surround your animation making sure that the first and last frame are within your crop. You can move the lines of the crop by placing your cursor over the line and you'll see a small arrow appear. Then double click in the center of your crop.
Right, now let's have a look at our animation by clicking on View\Animation or by clicking on the little icon on the Tool Bar above to the right . You can also resize your animation if you think it's too large (like mine) by going to Animation/Resize Animation. I resized mine by 75%. If you are happy with your animation then go to File/Animation Wizard and save your animation. Do this by pressing Next right the way through the wizard. This isn't a difficult tutorial, just repetitive but I think you'll find it well worth the effort when you see the end result :)
As always, please let me know by email if you are having any difficulties and I'll go through the problem you're having step by step :)
