Ok then :) Lets go and trust me you will have to concentrate on this one, lol! Let's start by saying SAVE OFTEN, lol! There is an easier way, if like me, you get so involved in what you're doing, you forget to save. So if you go to File and click on Preferences, you'll see Auto Save Settings. This gives you the option of Paint Shop Pro saving your work automatically. I set mine at 4mins. You can set yours lower or higher :) This has come in handy many things, one being an Electricity Cut and I was in the middle of a difficult Web Set so PSP saved me, lol!
Ok then, open up Paint Shop Pro Version 9. I did try and find a tutorial on how to convert PSP 9 selection files for PSP 7 but as yet have been unsuccessful. If anyone of you guys knows the way PLEASE email me and let me know. I'll even make a tag for your trouble :) You will also have to download a few selections, a brush, the image and the font. This you can do here :) E4E Materials The pack includes e4esheersquares001.PspBrush which should be put into your Brushes folder in My PSP Files in My Documents or the actual folder Jasc in your Program Files.Either will do :) also e4etut_sel01.PspSelection, sel02, sel03 and sel04. Select these 4 selections (.PspSelection) and put them in your Selections folder of your PSP Files in My Documents or Jasc Selections in your Program Files. I have also included a font called Heather.tff. You can download this to your Fonts folder in Windows but I would advice you to have a seperate folder in My Documents to keep your growing number of fonts. I keep no more than 25 fonts in my Windows folder, and the reason for this is that the more you have installed into that folder the slower your computer will become. All you have to do is click on the font you want to use and minimize it to your task bar. Once you have done this Paint Shop Pro automatically picks it up when you use your Text Tool :) Ok enough gabbling, let's get on with it, lol!
Open up the image e4etut_image.jpg provided in your E4E Materials or use your own image with similar dimensions.
I will be rescaling most of the following images for easier downloading so yours will look a little larger :)
Now duplicate your image once - Shift + D or Layers/Duplicate. Activate your main image by clicking on the picture and go to Image/Canvas and use the following settings and click ok:
Your image will look like this:
Now go to Effects/Image Effects and click on Seamless Tiling and use the following settings. Click ok:
Your image will look like this one now :)
Now back to Image/Canvas Size 400 x 400. Make sure the image is centred by clicking on the little diamond in the middle, click ok.
Now go to Image/Add Borders and add a border of 50, colour black. Your image should now look like this :)
Now click on Selections/Load from Disk and select e4etut-sel01
Your image will now look like this:
Now go to Image/Crop Selection.
Then Layers/Promote Background Layer
Our image should now look like this :)
Now back to Image/Canvas size with same settings as before 400 x 400 (make sure it's centered by clicking on the little diamond in the centre:)
Add a new layer by going to Layers/New Raster Layer.
Click on your Brush Tool and activating your brush selection, look for e4etut_sheersquares001,click on it and use these settings:
Put your foreground colour settings at #e3ad66. Click twice in the centre of your image, then go to Adjust/Sharpen and sharpen your image.
Now we have our image looking like this :)
We are now going to change the opacity of the layer to 58. We do this by moving the opacity arrow on our layers pallete from 100 to 58.
Now click with your magic wand outside the grid (tolerance and feather 0)
Go to Selecions/Modify then Expand by 1. Click on your bottom layer and hit delete once. Then right click on one of the layers and 'merge visible'.Do not deselect yet! Keep it selected.
Ok now lets go to the duplicate image we made in the beginning. It should be a raster layer in your layers pallette but if it says Background there are two ways you can convert it to a raster layer. One is go to Layers/Promote to Raster Layer or (easy way, lol!) double click on your Background layer and a raster layer menu will pop up. Just click ok and voila!
Now go to Image/Canvas and use the setting 350 x 350. Now activate your rubber (eraser for our US friends :)) using these settings:
Ok, now lets get rid of the straight line on the right hand side. I did mine like this but don't panic too much if its not exact :)
Once your happy with the way the hair looks, go to Edit/Copy or click on the bar above your image and copy (easier, lol) then paste it as a new layer on your other image placing it to the far left. Now you can deselect (Selections/Select None), then go to your layers pallette and merge visible layers.
Now add a new layer and name it sel02. Go to Selections/Load from Disk and find the selection 'e4etut_sel02'. Flood fill the selection with your foreground colour (#e3ad66). Then go to Effects/3D Effects and give your selection a Drop Shadow using these settings:
Now go to Selections/Modify and Contract by two then hit the delete button once.
Go to Effects/3D Effects and click on Cut Out using the following settings:
At this stage do not deselect, leave selected.
Now add a new layer and name it sel02a. We now want to put that layer 'underneath' the layer previous so you can either 'drag' it down one or go to Layers/Arrange/Move Down.
Now flood fill your selection with the colour black. Then go to Effects/Texture Effects and click on Blinds using these settings:
Now we are going to change a few settings on our layer pallette.Firstly lower the opacity of layer sel02a to 48. Secondly change the blend mode to Overlay (see below):
You can now deselect :)
Add a layer and name it sel03. Go to Selections/Load from Disk and select e4etut_sel03. Flood fill this selection with your foreground colour (#e3ad66). Add a Drop Shadow with the same settings as before (Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow).
Go to Selections/Modify and Contract by 2, then hit the delete key once. Then go to Effects/3D Effects/ Cut Out and use the same settings as before.
Do not deselect at this time, leave your selection active
Add a new layer and name it sel03a. Now 'drag' this layer underneath the layer sel03 or go to Layers/Arrange/Move down. Flood fill your selection with the colour black, then go to Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds but this time uncheck the horizontal box and use the colour #404040. Change the Opacity for both layers sel03 and sel03a to 48 and change both modes to Overlay. Your image should now look like this (phew!)
Now add another layer and name it sel04. Then Selections/Load from Disk and select e4etut-sel04. Flood fill the selection with your foreground colour (#e3ad66)
Now add a drop shadow with the same settings as before. Now Selections/Modify/Contract by 2 then hit the delete key once. Then Effects/3D Effects/Cut Out and use the same settings as before. Do not deselect yet.
Add a new layer and name it sel04a. Drag this layer down under layer sel04 or Layers/Arrange/Move down. Flood fill your selection with the colour black, then go to Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds making sure the horizontal box is unchecked, using the same colour as before (#404040).
Lower the Opacity of layer sel04a to 48 then use the blend mode Overlay on both sel04 and sel04a. Deselect now.
Activate the layer sel02 and load e4etut-sel03 again. Hit the delete key once. Leave selection selected.
Activate the layer sel02a and hit the delete key once.
Now activate the layer sel02 and load e4etut_sel04, then hit the delete key once. Leave the selection active and go to layer sel02a and again hit the delete key once.
You can now deselect and then merge all visible layers :) Almost there! We are now going to add our text. If you would prefer to leave out the text then go to the add a frame instruction.
Put your foreground colour to black and your background colour to #e3ad66. Make sure you have the font Heather minimised or any other Font you would prefer to use. Click on your Text Tool and use these settings:
Tip! You can type in the size you want your text to be. It doesnt have to be the same as in the drop down box :)
Adjust the size to your liking on your image and once you're happy with the look, go to Layers/Promote to Raster Layer. Name this layer text. Add the same Drop Shadow settings but change the horizontal and vertical to 2.Repeat the Drop Shadow again but this time change the horizontal and vertical to -2.
Now right click on your text layer and click on duplicate.
Change the duplicate text layer blend mode to screen and the one below to overlay. Change the opacity of both layers to 80.
Right click on the top layer of your layer pallette and go to Merge/Merge Visible. At this stage I like to keep the tags I make as psp images so I would save the tag at this stage as psp image. So then you can go to Edit/Copy then paste as new image. Close down the psp image you have just saved. Now right click on your merged layer, Merge, Merge All (flatten).
YAY! Almost there, lol! Go to Image and click on Frame and find the Corners Tape frame. Its a standard frame with Paint Shop Pro :) and use the following settings :)
Now you can merge layers and Merge All (flatten). Go to File/Save as and save as a jpg. You're done believe it or not, lol! Wow this was a long one!!
As usual should you have any questions relating to the making of this tag then please feel free to email me, Michele and I'll try to help :)
